Picture size on cache pages

Post by Handyman-N-Fam »

I have been having a problem with the actual size of pictures I am trying to put on new cache pages. Since I have been hiding caches, whenever I uploaded a picture to gc.com it would show up on the cache page as a certain size. Over the last week, I have hidden a few caches. I uploaded the pics and put them on the cache page only to discover that they are much smaller on the computer screen.
I know in gizmo's tutorial it tells you how to size the pictures to whatever size you want. I tried using that method only to have the pictures loose all of their detail when I blew them up.
I checked the settings on my phone and uploaded pics with different MPs only to have them look the same on a cache page.

Does anyone know what my problem is? :?

Looking at your last submission I can understand your concern, however I don't understand the problem

2 questions.
Where are you getting that code? I have several others to change.
Why did things change, was it me or gc.com?

Go to the upper right of your cache page and hit view gallery. Then you will see the little picture. Click on it and a bigger one will come up. Get properties of the bigger one and use that. Does that make sense.

Question tywo, I'm not sure...

Thanks!!

You used to be able to click on any version of the picture and copy the location to the HTML of the cache page. I wonder why it changed.

I believe GC has posted guide lines for picture size. It has to be under 100k or they will resize it. Also I believe it has to be 600x450 pixels although I always use 640x480 and get away with it if the size is under 100 k (Or 480 x 640).

I use photoshop for all of this. I set my crop size for 640 x 480. Then I "save for web" and again set it for 640 x 480. Finally when I save it I select the size of the jpeg so it is under 100k and upload it.

Does that make sense? What program are you using?

That is the problem.... The file size exceeds GC standards and it resizes it. I'm glad Cheech's method works.

Woke up today and 4 new Handyman caches. Thanks for the Christmas present!

Even Pax is excited!

Merry Christmas!!!

I was having the same problem until I read somewhere to just remove the word "display" from the pictures address.

We noticed this whole thing about a month ago, trying to do Mina's new birthday cache.
The site didn't want to make the pics any bigger.
We had then just decided to let it roll and try to figure the whole thing out later.
