I don't know what the deal is, but I've only killed one sketter this year ( and I live next to a creek), but I've had probably a dozen ticks. (not all at once). I've actually seen more snakes in my yard than ticks or skeeters. I'd rather have the ticks, put the snakes are easier to pick off.

Not many skeeters yet, and if you were at our place last year, you have to remember what that was like. Also, no ticks yet. But then, we're going to NC soon! If any females have Good Dog's problem, I hear that Brad Paisley is willing to help. (Couldn't find the youtube yet!)

From the colorful words I heard at the Spring Fling, I would have to say the ticks have returned for 2008! 8O :D

I finally got my two for the year. Found one on my pants and then found one later on.

Tonight I found myself on a walk in Secor Park. Later, while checking emails I felt a vague sensation on my shoulder. I still had on my sweatshirt and when I took it off sure enough I had a tick crawling along. I grabbed him but he slipped out of my fingers and fell right into my keyboard and disappeared. I turned it over and shook it but the little sucker didn’t come out. I was contemplating my next move of getting a flashlight when he appeared between the O and P keys. I looked for a weapon and introduced him to the sharp end of a letter opener. Now I’m feeling those invisible ones all over me.

Well you're not alone. We went to a cache a couple of weeks ago that had some rotting carcasses littered around the area. Not only did we not find the cache, we also had six ticks between the four of us. Lovely little critters, aren't they?

I'm guessing that little sucker was probably one of the very first to be gutted by a letter opener!

While at Secor park last evening with BC, I didn't get any ticks, but the mosquitos have arrived! Not many, but they were there!!! 8O  :(

Better a letter opener than this:

I had my first tick on the way back from Florida. I really hope that's the last one I have, too! Also on Saturday had my first big run in with my major phobia.....SNAKE! *shudder*

Not really about mosquitoes or ticks, but deerflies! I got eaten up on a trip to central Michigan last week. I found out the hard way that Picaridin doesn't work worth a ^%$#@ on them. Deet was the only thing that did the trick...and a LOT of it!!

Deer flies....

funny you should mention that Stumpy. Lots of people are having skeeter problems, but usually don't, even though I live on a creek. BUT the deer flies this year are bad, and I usually don't have a problem with them either. Deer flies must like cooler summer weather or something.
