Nuvi 285W

Post by PBZ »

I have recently upgraded my Nuvi and no longer have need of my temperamental Nuvi 285W. The power cord needs the occasional jiggling and there are times when the map will disappear. Pulling the power and restarting the Nuvi will bring the maps back.

All reasonable offers considered.

Is there anything wrong with it?

There are 3 known issues:
1 - The cigarette lighter power cord needs the occasional jiggle to get it to light up. There is no reason that the power cord couldn't be replaced by a usb cable and your favorite in car usb power source.
2 - Maps will occasionally disappear, requiring a reboot of the device. This seems to happen when the nuvi gets hot.
3 - It used to get traffic data from MSN. This service was shut down years ago and NW Ohio was never covered by the service. Lack of service does not impact nuvi in any way aside from an error message if you tap the MSN traffic icon.
