At the request of TeamMina, I am posting this on the site. They will explain the situation further.
Groundspeak Support wrote: Hello TeamMina,

Thank you for writing to us. We appreciate your concern regarding potential copyright infringement and want you to know that we take your email very seriously. Groundspeak respects the intellectual property rights of others, and Groundspeak asks that all users of our websites do the same.

Yes, as you are the players who upload the images on geocaching.com, you are actually the owners of the images. Have you tried to contacting them directly to make sure they ask permission to use your images and give credit to the proper owner?

If so, have they responded or denied copying your images without your permission?
If you believe that your work has been published on the Site in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, you may notify Groundspeak's copyright agent by providing the following information (I understand you have already included much of this information):

(a) Identification of the copyrighted work that You claim has been infringed.

(b) Identification of the material that You claim is infringing and needs to be removed, including a description of where it is located on the Site.

(c) Your address, telephone number, and, if available, e-mail address, so that Groundspeak can contact you about your complaint.

(d) And a signed statement that the above information is accurate; that you have a good faith belief that the identified use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf in this situation.

Notices of copyright infringement claims should be sent by mail or fax to the attention of Bryan Roth, Copyright Agent, as follows:

By mail: Groundspeak, Inc.
24 Roy St PMB 321
Seattle WA 98109
Attn: Copyright
By fax: 206.260.9183

Groundspeak's copyright agent may also be contacted by phone or e-mail:

By phone: 206.302.7721 x103

By e-mail: contact@groundspeak.com

If You give Groundspeak notice of copyright infringement by e-mail or phone, Groundspeak's copyright agent may begin investigating the alleged copyright infringement; however, Groundspeak's copyright agent must receive Your signature by mail or fax before Groundspeak is required by law to take any action. More information about U.S. copyright law can be found at the United States Copyright Office.

I would love to know what that is all about!

Did they not give credit to Mina's picture that they used for Mingo's birthday announcement?

Oh no, that we are happy about!

It has to do with people snatching our images from our NASCAR Challenge cache page, and using them on their version with asking our permission first.

That's why we kinda added a watermark on the images now.

Got it..... Still, it would have been nice if they mentioned Mina in their write up. Oh well.... We all know and love her!

You will probably dislike me for this but what's the big deal? Isn't NASCAR copyrighted? What about all the images? It's a game..........if it becomes a big deal then maybe you need to find something less stressful to play.......Just my opinion.

This topic is simply posting geocaching.com's policy on image use and rights.

No particulars of this case have been mentioned.

If this comment is constructive criticism from our Steering Committee on a subject they know nothing about, then thank you for it. Nice to see support of gc.com policies and NWOGEO members are a top priority to our elected/appointed leadership.

Please, anyone, feel free to contact us by any means you wish if you are so motivated on this subject.

I QUIT the steering committee quite some time ago mainly because of b**ching. I still get sick of people complaining about a GAME we choose to play. They did this, they didn't do that.....Who really cares???
You did the work on getting that picture together I understand that but copyright? REALLY???
give me a break!

Mina wants you all to know use of her likeness, and related use of her catch-phrase "Woof!" can contact her legal representative, mailed to their Elmore area offices.
