I agree. Thanks for getting the room. I'll be able to make it! Hope many more can make it too.

Yep... good point. I retract my earlier suggestion.

Thanks for getting the room and all. Its nice to see that there are some people that are interested in volunteering with the group and there is some brainstorming going on about where to go from here.

I should be able to make it.

What, no coords?! ;)

This is a good idea. I'll try to get some time off work and would be willing to help try to keep things on topic. I too am disappointed in the amount of participation in the poll. That, however, has been the results of much of our efforts to get others involved over the years. I also agree, no GC smilie for this one. This is a business meeting.

Unfortunately (not really) I just found out I will be in Europe on that day. Oh the woes of retired life and last-minute-good-deals.

Meetings of this type often end up with the missing guy being elected king. FYI : if nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve.

Several templates for events are already on the website in the SC Forums, although I have not updated them in a while since I post most of those that are templated anyway.

And regarding the idea of posting one event for the entire year for our M&E instead of monthly, here is something I found that we talked about some time ago.
Pros:
- Easier to maintain as a single cache page.
- Being the same waypoint, would become easier to remember.
- Conservation of waypoint ids for GC.com.
- Once watchlist marked, would remain indefinately.
- Would help maintain continuity of ideas by all logs being in one place.
- Easier to review logs from event to event.
- Consolidates TB activity occuring for M&E events.
- No need to pester the reviewer each month.
- Helps discourages "drive-by" cachers.

Cons:
- Historical record of past events more difficult to determine, since only one event would be listed for NWOGEO username.
- Stats for user NWOGEO would no longer reflect accurate count of events.
- Would require multiple "attends" for same cache.
- Harder to delineate logs per each event.
- Log listings would become harder to read as they grow.
- Log listings would take longer for page to load as they grow.
- Would lose the abiltity for event to show as "not found", after logged once as "attended."
- Harder to determine TB activity for a specific M&E event.
- Inability to show multiple future M&E events without possible unique details for each being listed together on the solitary page.
- More difficult for a user to discern historically which M&E Events they attended.
The Cons convinced us at the time to keep creating monthly events.

While I am not from Ohio, I do like caching and enjoy the diversity of other states forums. I am from Michigan and had a web-page for geocaching in Michigan but there is a great lack of interest lately, i have subsequently shut down my website,
I don't think that going non-profit is a wise choice, there are many rules and regs that must be closely followed, there is also an increased cost of attorneys and taxes, etc...
new members is the way to go but the problem is that some caching groups have given the sport a bad name and the interest is declining while local governments are starting to see it as a dangerous and destructive sport.

I started this sport because it was fun but it soon just became a political power struggle, or it is a numbers game, people steal caches, falsely log, and use the sport for a drinking party. I hope that Geocaching gets back to the great sport that it was meant to be before it becomes outlawed and banned across the nation.

sorry about rambling on, I don't post often so I post with content

Happy Caching and I hope to see NWOGEO and cachers in the future.
I will keep my eyes open.

BTW... I have been meaning to mention that I am officially resigning from the NWOGEO Steering Committee for at least a couple of reasons.

For a somewhat selfish reason, I am resigning so that I do not have to be the last one standing.

For a less selfish reason, I feel if I resign, then it may help further the cause of some form of reorganization. I'm afraid that others may feel reluctant to "take up the torch" while there are still those remaining in the SC.

I will remain as a NWOGEO website administrator for the moment, since Jason has not been very active here recently. The site (despite it being perceived as less than friendly to newbies) serves a very important purpose, and I will remain to keep it up as I have had for a while now.

(My name will still show in the SC list in the menu until I can edit it at a later time.)
