Since it is now becoming an Event, the entire thread was been moved to the Events Forum.
Our little poll indicated that we should make it a Geocaching.com Event and on another date (as in not on 06/28 that we had discussed initially).
After eliminating the dates of other local events in July and August we are left with the following seven possible dates
Sun 07/20
Sat 07/26
Sun 07/27
Sat 08/02
Sun 08/03
Sun 08/17
Sat 08/23
We want to be able to make a final decision on Wednesday July 2nd, so that we can post the event at GC.
So read OnDHunt's post at NWOGEO.org and reply with the dates above that are NOT good for you.
If possible, we will pick a Saturday over a Sunday, and will make the next best date choices rain dates.

Re: Boat required
Here are some possible routes to Wood Tick/North Cape:
The northern most route from the DNR ramp in Michigan is ~2.5 miles.
The middle route from Jolly Rodger (if we can get permission) is ~2.6 miles.
The southern most route from Cullin Park in Toledo is ~4.4 miles.
Larger boats may NOT be able to launch from the Michigan DNR ramp.
Also remember that a LOT more paddling will be necessary to do the caches in the area.

Re: Boat required
I just found that we missed the "NCOG / COG Family Cookout - July 26, 2008" event!
Does anyone plan to go to this, or do we need strike this date from the list too?

Re: Boat required
As of this moment today, all the dates we have posted are open for me.
So I have NO dates to declare.
And since Cheech has posted, I assume he has none to declare either.

Re: Boat required
Yep, I already posted elsewhere before this thread was established. All the dates that are left are good for me. Can I assume we are talking about Unguarded, Woodtick, and North Cape?

Re: Boat required
Good assumption. But why didn't you also post the links for those caches?cheechgang wrote:.... Can I assume we are talking about Unguarded, Woodtick, and North Cape?
I'm afraid that "Treasure Island" will be too far away for the human powered craft. We'll have to think about that one some more.
Don't forget.... "Offically" this is NOT an Event to find geocaches, as GC doesn't like that. It is an Island Picnic, so when we post the Event page, the nearby caches will not be mentioned by name, or waypoint.

Re: Boat required
I'm good to go on all dates.
Most of the powerboats would have the same problem at Jolly with water depth that the michigan ramp has, most of the bigger boats in our docks have to launch elsewhere and they stay in the docks all season.
The smaller craft are still welcome as long as we give jolly a date.
