Jumping in on this one late in the discussion...depending on when it is, we both might be interested in attending. That is, if anyone has any room in a boat for 2 more as we don't have kayaks, canoes or any other sort of water transportation :D

We are getting our kayaks registered tomorrow to be "legal" in Ohio. Vacation starts July 12early-19late. And I work the weekend of August 9-10. Beyond that, I don't think anything is happening on the other dates. Please Advise!!!

If Linz works on the day chosen and I do not and can make the event then I will have an extra kayak for someone. Just depends on the days. If we both do not make it I would be willing to let someone borrow the kayaks if they have the ability to transport them for themselves. Keep me informed of date and we will work out the boats.

Here is an image of the Lost Peninsula Marina fuel stop. Although this is a private facility, the fuel stop is available to the public by water. They usually have a port-a-potty, and soda vending machine available.

It is 1.3 miles from the "Boat Required Picnic" event area. Although the distance is short, the water can be a bit rough, as the path is not protected by land, and crosses the channel to Ottawa River.

This image shows three routes.

The north route is about 3.1 miles from the Erie MI DNR Ramp to the Woodtick Peninsula/North Cape event picnic area. This route is normally through very calm waters and may be worth the extra distance.

The shorter middle route is about 2.5 miles, and crosses the much rougher waters of mouth of the Ottawa River, the channel to Lake Erie, and the more open waters not protected by land. Boat traffic changes the conditions here within minutes, even when the wind and waves do not.

The 1.3 mile southern route from the Lost Peninsula Marina fuel stop is shown, as the fuel stop usually has a port-a-potty and a soda vending machine. Of course this route crosses the same waters as above. (also see image in previous message)

If all goes well this week I will be there in my Kayak. Trying to get another person to jump out of his muggle disguise and become a cacher and what other better way than an adventure of this nature.
