Re: Intro to Geocaching @ Bass Pro shop
If you all go, please sit in the 2nd to most expensive pontoon and send me a pict on my cell.
Re: Intro to Geocaching @ Bass Pro shop
Unfortunately, I will be out of town for all of these dates. For those who go, you should talk to the Bass Pro people about hiding a cache or two on their property. I am not trying to promote a commercial cache plus GC.com does not allow commercial caches. However, I am promoting having a top quality cache serving as an example of what geocaching is all about. Someone does have a cache there, it is not a bad cache, but it is not the greatest example of what geocaching is all about. Plus there is room for a couple more on Bass Pro's property.
I am an amazed cacher!

I have to agree with him, actually, as I have said before, those were my first attempts at hides, and they could have been so much better. Working to remedy that situation.
Re: Intro to Geocaching @ Bass Pro shop
Sorry, if it offended, I did not mean for it to. I have several hides that are less than the greatest examples too. All I wanted to point out is that you and others may have a chance to hide a cache, with permission, and make it very exciting. But it would have to be well thought out and done right.jhenkel wrote:

Re: Intro to Geocaching @ Bass Pro shop
First off, I would like to start by thanking Jhenkel, Scuba, and bravo872 for their assistance this week-end in regards to helping teach about geocaching properly.
This program put on by Bass Pro Shops was very informative and good geo-friends with Bass Pro Shops were made by participating in this week-end. So, be prepared for future events and classes available through them and we will be possible looking for more volunteers to assist in teaching and promoting our great hobby.
(the next classes that will be organized will be made into Event caches)

Re: Intro to Geocaching @ Bass Pro shop
The April 12th classes went fine with a little less attendance probably because it being the easter weekend.
Last week permission was recieved to place a regular size cache on the grounds. I donated the container and log, JHenkel is taking care of a little camo the stickers and some goodies, the cache will be on RustyNails account he has offered to handle needed maintenance. Please contact one of us if you have any good ideas about the name of the cache or any of the other details. This would not have been possible without bass pro. The working name is Outdoor World but that is subject to change. After todays class they are turning over some promo items to gsmom59 that can go in the cache.

Just be sure it is not a commercial cache so that it can be approved

It will not be sponsored by or "placed by" Bass Pro, it should be fine!cheechgang wrote:Just be sure it is not a commercial cache so that it can be approved

Re: Intro to Geocaching @ Bass Pro shop
Don't even mention bass pro. I put historical info on Camp Miakonda in one and Keystone accused me of trying to recruit.
