The Final Assault on Bird's Eye View

Post by ScouterJoe »

As many of you are aware the Additional Logging Requirements are no longer available. There is a wonderfully creative cache in Bowling Green Ohio that has the requirement of taking a picture of the cache from a minimum of 75 feet in the air. The cache is Bird's Eye View
Groundspeak has given this cache a temporary reprieve because of it's extrodinary nature.

To celebrate this cache, we are having a picnic. Final Assault

This will also give everyone one last opportunity to gather and make the "final assault" on this cache.

There may also be a prize of indeterminate value (re: very little) to the team with the most creative attempt!

See you there!

Hmmmm, an outdoor chili cook-off? Intriguing. Beef? Or as I call it, real chili?

Right now there are three teams ready for a try.

> A team headed by Bearclaws and staffed what I suspect is a large group of people with lots of life experience, and possibly aided by the US Air Force and a number of dogs. No official name yet. #11

>Team Geeks, headed by Mdwalsh which I suspect is headed by young guns. #10

>A team headed by GSmom which also has no name. They may try this weekend. #8

>Jimmy System has entered a team, I don't have a team name.
This could be interesting. Maybe someone's rocket can shoot down another teams baloons. Sounds like another idea for a cache.

Everyone is being very secretive about their method of attack. Curious.
There is still room for more teams.

Don't forget the event picnic which is open to everyone. Come and root for your team and get a few laughs.

We are not being secretive, we just don't know what we are going to do...

Is there anyone willing to add me to there team? I don't like heights very much, so I'm willing to be towards the bottom of the human pyramid.

I am in the same position as Geoflint, if anyone needs another hand. I have been trying to come up with something, but have not come up with anything that I could logistically pull off. If not, I will enjoy watching others attempting (and hopefully succeeding) in getting the cache.

I'm still trying to book an excavation crew to dig the 75' hole. I keep getting grief about permits. Permits, I don't need no stinkin' permits.

I have always believed that it is always easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission

What a great event! And the very nearby cache was not bad either, see logs at Bird's Eye View. Five teams made the assault and 5 teams came away with the goods.

Thanks Joe and Jane for hosting the event. A great day was had by all. What a way to send off a cache!! There are going to be lots of memories from this, not the least of which is at least 75 feet. and 40 butts and 6 or so tails in the air.
