Thanks for the info. I don't see that event as a deterrent. One local went last year.

Right now it looks like there are 3-5 cachers so far coming over from the Fort Wayne area also.

The owners of the rental place asked me to pass along that if people are interested in going to either call and tell them or contact me to relay the info. They need to know how many kayaks and life jackets with sizes to bring along. Thanks.

I am pretty interested in this, but am trying to feel out my schedule. I am about 70%, but hope to firm it up one way or another this week.

I'm super excited about this trip. Does anyone have experience on this river? Is it manageable for my 12 year old son and I? It'll be his birthday and I want to make sure that he enjoys it.

It is pretty easy navigation. Most of the caches are backwater or a creek.

Hello all!
This is just an update for Team IceKat’s Paddle Party. If you are planning on attending here are some reminders/helpful hints to better prepare you for this coming weekend. If you do not have a canoe or kayak, please make sure you contact Auglaize Canoe & Kayak so you have a boat for the event. The canoe livery is 14 miles away from where we will be at, so if it is not reserved it may take awhile to get a boat for you. Their phone number is 419-594-3456, and the cost is $25/person. They are accepting cash at the launch site, but if you are planning to pay with a card you will have to make arrangements to stop by the canoe livery, 14 miles away. The breakfast starts at 7:00am and will run till about 8:30am. We will then head to the launch site to try to get in and going by 9:00am. For those of you who have never water cached before here is a list of recommended items for you to bring: a change of clothes, a trash bag for your wet things, hat, sunglasses, sun block, insect repellant, water, ziploc bags to waterproof valuables, beach towel, string to tie your GPS to the boat, and it is important to dress in layered, warm, fast-drying clothes (denim not recommended) and have shoes for wading. You will need to pack a lunch for when we take a break (or you can eat at the restaurant), and you may want to pack snacks for the boat. We really look forward to seeing all of you this coming weekend, and if you have any further questions please feel free to contact either Icefire016 or KitKat055!
