So how does everybody think the Shindig went this year? How many people attended?

It seems that the event was more of a socialization event than a caching event. I kind of liked that. The food was plentiful and I think the Twizzlers were great.

I thought the venue was very nice, although the kitchen was an "extra" which would not always be available.

The setup of the "stage" location was the best we've had being in the center of the room instead at one end.

I agree with Mo, the lack of a large number of temporary caches (along with the rain) made for a more congenial event, at least most people stuck around instead of being out and about.

lots attended, venue size is great - easy access from major routes - weather, well, it wasn't a blizzard  ...i give it a 5.7...

Suchanana> Since you worked the registration table do you know how many attended (besides cheech gang)?

Event seemed to flow very well. Size of building plus kitchen space always seems to be the "BIG" issue. This one worked out well this year. Kudos to the event coordinators, travel bug area organizers and all that helped out to make it another great shindig.

I was the one that tallied up the numbers in the logbook. I don't recall the exact number, but it seems as if it was just below 100.

So, there were a few less than 100 people and the room was rated for 130 maximum, those who attended can picture the scene. It seemed to me we still had enough space to move around ok. The extra kitchen was a bonus and couldn't be counted on in the future. But if the hot foods were served in this rooms kitchen area and the desserts were arranged in the kitty-corner maybe up against the wall/windows it might not be so bad. The kitchen thing is the only potential negative I see. Great location, facilities, price, size, grounds, acoustics. Maybe it could be reserved for next year and if something better comes along the reservation cancelled?

Yes, there was plenty of extra room in the corner where Mo was stationed.

There was somewhere between 105-106 people there. One of our pint sized cachers was registered as a 1/2 cacher. But I would have put her as a full cacher, so 106. GG has the logbook, and we can count it up at the next meet & eat! :)
I thought it went really well, I always tend to socialize rather than cache at this event anyway. The extra kitchen was super handy, but it would not always be available. Also, we didn't have a place to hang the pinata, so GizmoGuy didn't get a whack at it. This saddened him.

If it wasn't raining you could hang it in the gazebo.

We were just happy to make it!

But everything said so far has been right-on.
The kitchen areas & fridge were wonderful surprises.

I had a good time. Food was great, I thought Bearclaws did great and was funny as always. Lots of 1000 finder's and great stories. Gooddog and Suchanana did wonderful on their hides. The ladies helping in the kitchen were fantastic. Mighty Mo sitting in the corner playing on his laptop while sucking on a Twizzler was entertaining. Jen for all you do and hard work, Thank you.
