Mushroom hunter finds ammo box

Post by McCombRef »

This is from the 5/5/07 edition of The Courier in the police docket:

A man found an ammunition box while mushroom hunting in Madison Township on Thursday. The box was later determined to be used for “geo caching, and was to be returned to the location where it was found.

It was the Turkey Foot Cache. The person logged that they found it. They must've taken it to the police.

There seem to be many streams of confusion. First off, Madison township in Hancock county. " Cache might have been "NOT THE ARLINGTON CEMETERY". Turkey Foot is in Liberty township in Henry county. Turkey Foot is not going to be opened or removed by a mushroom hunter. I hit that cache on Wedsday last week and read the log that the mushroom hunter posted. I think he took Chipmunks review to dry out and was confused. A cache posed a DNF for Chipmunks before I found it. Also that same day I ran into a mushroom hunter at Turkey Foot that had a bread sack full or fungi. And I had deep fried mushrooms for dinner that night from the Bluffton Dairy Freeze. I think it is a Conspiracy!!!

I've found cache containers that had mushrooms growing in them.

I think the ammo box that was found was BBD's in Oakwood in Findlay. I think the one that the fungi hunter found was Chipmunk View.

I'll run out to oakwoods tomorrow and see if there are two boxes now.

Seeing as this will be my 5th trip to the location, I don't think I will need my GPSr.

I'd be suprised if it is BBD's. The police report said Madison Township. That is Arlington area and south. Maybe the Mushroomer was from Arlington?!?

Well that would explain why I found a Tupperware container and not an ammo box yesterday :)

I had to talk with a trustee about placing the cache in SQ Powell. He is a deputy for Hancock county. I wonder who has your ammo box now? I think it is time to do a information session for the local authorities before we have a cache blown up. Educate, Educate, Educate!!!!

Can I watch? Things getting blown up sounds like fun to me for some odd reason. Must be the same one that keeps drawing me back to watch Mythbusters.
