Commercial cache part II
Range Kleen is at it again. check out this cache On the East Side
The only difference is he used his initials and moved it to his front door. The "user's web page" link on the cache listing leads to Range Kleen, the container is a fat trapper still in its cardboard advertising wrapper, and the log is by "Range Kleen" asking for names and addresses. The other stuff in the cache all bears the name of Range Kleen as well.
what the heck is going on over there with this guy!?!

did this one get approved, too?
they must have dealt with it, cause the link is no longer valid.

Some people just don't get it. Geocachers aren't idiots.

Umm... speak for yourself SS!stepshep wrote:Some people just don't get it. Geocachers aren't idiots.
While it is clearly evident that you are very intelligent and while I would "LIKE" to agree with you that Geocachers are not idiots, I'm afraid that it is unfortunately true that it may not always be the case.
As the sport grows, so does the diversity of the people participating. As such, we are bound to get some idiots here and there, now and then!
Of course I jest about you "speaking for yourself", as I'm sure you meant to imply that MOST Geocachers are not idiots. I just was in the mood to agree with you by disagreeing!

Was this guy promoting a new weight loss product? CIFOthe container is a fat trapper still in its cardboard advertising wrapper
Re: Commercial cache part II
Yes I guess I should have posted most. Instead of implying all.

Ok, so it ends up my dad went to college, with the head IT guy of RangeKleen. He said he had hear something about them placing a geocache. He then went on to say that the person who found it posted a commercial cache for BW3s, I tried to explain the difference between theirs and EasyEarns but he wouldn't budge. So they think they are justified. I think if a reviewer wrote to them. (Maybe they have) And just instead of posting this rule that rule, maybe actually ponting out where they went wrong. They could put some fake dollars as a FTF prize with no problem. I think they just went the wrong way. (Maybe an email like that was already sent, idk). my2cents

Re: Commercial cache part II
Just tell him that there is a BIG difference between EASYRN placing a cache at his favorite hangout and a business placing a cache asking for names and address's and promoting his store. Even if he did end up making it right I would boycott it just for the fact that he keeps trying to do it the worng way.stepshep wrote:Ok, so it ends up my dad went to college, with the head IT guy of RangeKleen. Re: Commercial cache part II
there certainly is a big difference between my Rock'in at BW's and either one of Range Kleen's caches. My reference to BW's is only about the fun times I have there, and doesn't promote it in anyway. Captain Buckeye reviewed it prior to posting it and made some suggestions to avoid commercialism. Just because it bears the logo and a pic, doesn't make it an advertisement. Range Kleen, on the other hand, is specifically promoting his company in several ways through his caches. Both his original and his Sock Puppet 2nd identity uses Range Klean as its home page. The logsheets ask for personal information and were made especially by the company and bear its logo. The cache container in both cases was a product of the company( BTW, a fat trapper is a plastic collection device for outdoor ranges and made by Range Kleen), in its cardboard advertising wrapper. The only contents for trade in the cache was fake "Range Kleen" money redeemable at the company.
If this guy at Range Kleen really wants to get into geocaching, let him find a few caches, and make a personal web page free of his company. Until then, I won't trust anything he posts.

Re: Commercial cache part II
I tried to explain that to him. But hey I'm just a kid and he's a big smart adult. I mean I really defended EASYRN's cache, but I just gave up.
