Metroparks Regulations

Post by cheechgang »

While searching for the latest info on opening hours I came across the latest Metroparks regulations effective in March. Read item 1.12 regarding buried treasure.

Bad choice of wording, I would say.

They make it sound like you need a permit to go geocaching in the parks and not just to hide a cache.

I hereby promise not to bring a shovel into the park. I furthermore promise not to use a shovel or shovel like devise to bury anything in/on/over/under/near district property. I also promise to avoid the Metroparks, Metropark minions, and Metropark attitudes like the plague. * Shovel - devise designed to or used for digging.

While reading the proclamation I noticed the (MM) notation after most or maybe all of the clauses. Am I wrong, or does this stand for misdemeanor? If is does, I agree with J-Kass, it does read that way and it is a crime to not have the permit while caching.

I think I've found my last metroparks cache till this is resolved.

Wern't they originally going to seek NWOGEO's input on these regs?

They had PLENTY of input.

Do not over react. Caching is still OK regardless of how the poorly worded regs ended up. Most who have actually sought the permits to place a cache have met with good results. The caches in the parks are nice. I much prefer thoise caches to poorly placed ones in ill-conceived locations, but hey, that's just me!

Just don't graze your swine at Wildwood and you should be OK. Apparently this, and chickens, have been a problem in the past.

Please everyone, don't take this to heart. I don't know who wrote it that way but it's not how our policy is written. I will find out, so please don't say you won't cache here ect... it's not a problem, and it will be changed. I'll let you know more as soon as I find out how that was written and who ect...then it will be changed so no reason worry.

What? Me worry?

PS. I have every intention of placing one new cache in each Metropark this Spring. (Minus Sidecut where I am already overextended). Now where can I get some Moops containers?

I promise that no swine, goats, nor chickens will be involved! No guarantee on mules.

I hope that if the "J-Kass"es promise not to graze in Wildwood that they will still be allowed to geocache there!

What happens if you go on a picnic with a person that make a pig out of themselves? Would that counts as grazing a swine?

Maybe we shouldn't invite the J-Kasses then, they did pig out on a bowl of French Fries at Mr. Beefy's!

I think it states that there are fees that we would have to pay and we would probably have to get a permit. Dang, that stinks!
