Want to get "A Birds' Eye View" ?
OK, I dunno whether many of the newer cachers have looked too carefully at THIS cache but it's garnered quite a bit of attention over the years...and plenty of frustration about not trying it as well.
It was hidden and published by Good Dog on 5/1/2004
It was FTFed by Team Soaring on 5/9/2004
It was also found by jslagle, mattopia, bee_girl and KC8TVS on 5/9/2004
It was found by omed_afit on 4/14/2005
So that's 4 finders/groups in almost 3 years.
I've had this near the top of my "nearest caches not found" list for 3 years as well.
There are lots of veteran cachers that have to want to get this one done.
Let's make this thread the base of operations to come up with ideas to get this cache completed....SOON.
I propose that, first of all, we come up with a list of cachers. Add your name to this thread and I'll continually edit a master list of participants. I also propose that we -after determining who, what, when and how- make this a geocaching.com event so that others can come out and join us as well. Part of the event could be a celebratory cook out/picnic following a successful "find."
We could schedule it for a specific day but I think that planning to do it after an established event (like the June Adopt-A-Highway) might work out better so that everyone already has the day cleared on their calendar.
I'm not necessarily taking the lead, I could take the lead, but mostly I just wanna get this one done and need some help to do it. PLUS, I think Good Dog deserves to have more attention paid to his creative idea for a 5/5 cache.
Thoughts ?? Ideas ?? Excitement ??

Re: Want to get "A Birds' Eye View" ?
- I bought wireless camera equipment 2 years ago to accomplish this.
- I also have a gas power radio controlled helicopter that I doubt I want to use.
- I have other ideas for lifting.
While doing it after an event may be ok, the logistics may make it too much work for one day! Not to mention the need for very cooperative weather.
I have talked to several people in the past who expressed interest in being part of my group. Of course I have no idea who they are at the moment. So this topic is great.

Re: Want to get "A Birds' Eye View" ?
Actually, I've become quite accustomed to seeing my old friend BIRD'S EYE show up on the front page (along with UNGUARDED) and have trepidation as to how I could live in a world without them as constant companions.
I don't want to speak for anybody else, but jsj444 has a sneaky method to get this done in the spring. I suppose anybody can be a member of the "support" crew. Contact him to see what he has in mind- I doubt that anybody else could pull this off in the way he has devised. It does not involve mirrors or Cirque d Soleil bungee acrobats.
Put me on the list. This may be just enough to bring vS and BB out of hibernation.

We own a CAM rock, but haven't had time/energy to get the platform together!

Re: Want to get "A Birds' Eye View" ?
I just don't see the problem. I seem to have been able to find them both every day
for almost 3 years.
edited to delete picture that was too wide and was messing up the screen view.

Re: Want to get "A Birds' Eye View" ?
I have been planning this one for a while. I have mentioned it to Good Dog and he approves of my method. He said it doesn't even have to be done at the BG location as long as all other criteria are met. I don't want to spoil the fun by giving away my method here, but anyone interested can e-mail me for details and anyone can come along that wants to take part. I will probably do the deed in Sylvania and then drive to BG to actually log the cache. I'm thinking springtime after the weather breaks a bit.
Add me to the list and if someone comes up with a quicker way to do it, that's cool by me.

I'll come along as an official observer. I would like to see all who wish to log it to be in on the planning and help with the actual work. A photographer or videographer would fit niecly with the concept.

Re: Want to get "A Birds' Eye View" ?
Maybe we can have multiple efforts going on at the same time.
BBD's with the Cam rock can use a couple folks.
jsj444's secret method can use a couple people.
if J.R.'s pilot cousin agreed then we could have that going on as well.
Just have a grand old day of showing off how to do a 5/5 on a flat soccer field...plus it'd help distribute the amount of people available.
