What can NWOGEO do for you?
Up until now, the purpose of NWOGEO has been to provide:
1) A web page with forum, pictures, calendar, etc.
2) Regular Meet and Eat events (Toledo, Findlay and the BG Special)
3) CITO opportunities (4 AAH's and Toledo/Findlay events on CITO Day)
4) 2 Large Events a year (Spring Fling and Holiday Shindig)
5) A way to get NWOGEO swag (shirts, coins, pathtags and patches)
Is there anything else that we could provide to or do to support our geo-community? Please post any ideas!

Re: What can NWOGEO do for you?
Shouldn't it be, "It's not what NWOGEO can do for you but what can you do for NWOGEO"?
But seriously, I think NWOGEO is great. It has helped us get to know a lot of people and meet some great friends.

Ahh, but this is what we're trying to define.

I believe the Big Dogs that keep NWOGEO alive are doing a fantastic job with web site maintenance, event organizations and just keeping up with the daily grind of executing the “this and that’s that keep this organization fresh and interesting.
From a social aspect, this geocaching community is very friendly and always seems willing to share experiences and stories with anyone interested.
For me though, geocaching has lately been more of a “solo hobby due to work, travel and such, and I’m not always prepared to take an advantage of available time.
This is where I think a type of “Clinic would be beneficial. Maybe some hands on (in the field) sessions that cover different topics could be arranged for a limited group of individuals that express a common interest in that particular topic?
One example that I would have is while driving somewhere with the GPSr on, I’ll see many different caches near by – and being the “print page, then find type of cacher, I have no idea about the details of the cache. Paperless caching would probably be a great benefit here, but it would be nice to learn and walk through the whole process of loading info to a Palm, and using that info for caching, before spending money on something that I’m not quite familiar with.
Different “clinics could potentially cover topics such as: paperless caching, GSAK, unique web creation (HTML), GPS functions and updating – just to name a few.
I think something like this could be a benefit for all levels of geocachers.
Thoughts?

Great idea Cachemeister. We have discussed doing something like this in the past. We have had a couple of Geocaching 101 clinics of sorts in the past. I suppose some 200 and 300 level sessions are in order.
I think I have also offered to do some HTML sessions for those would like like to spruce up their cache pages.

I think that the class thing is a good idea.

Re: What can NWOGEO do for you?
I'm all for it! We just put GSAK's newest version on our computer (we've had the other for a long time) but I'm sure we don't use even a fraction of what it can do. And we're trying to decide if it is worth putting out more money for or not. Or could we do everything we want just from cachemate?? (guess you can tell I need help) Mrs. SP

Re: What can NWOGEO do for you?
Who is our defacto GSAK expert anyway? I may even be able to be pursuaded to go paperless if I attended a class on GSAK or paperless geocaching.
Yes everyone, For those who do not know, Gizmoguy still uses paper! Hard to imagine I know.

Re: What can NWOGEO do for you?
Paper is not a bad thing if the only cache you find is the M&E each month.
