I believe that the initial meeting need to be held in a LARGE public venue to allow room for all community members to attend if they care to do so. The purpose of these meetings are to improve not only our organization's image, but to improve the image of geocaching to the public also. After the first few meetings, we could probably start seeking smaller venues (still public in cased someone would want to still attend).
Just spoke to Wood County Public Library in BG and they would allow us to use a room for a meeting either 10/20 or 10/21. Their room can comfortably fit 50 people, 75 would be cozy. Is this venue large enough? Do we want to book a date/room? Let me know!
I'll go with the flow, as any day is as good or bad as any other at the moment. However by Oct 21st, Wednesdays may be out for me, unless I know far enough in advance and do some shuffling.
Would love to be there also. But wednesday's are out for me. I have class on that day. But I have spoken with others who know where I stand pretty much. I am also willing to help in any way I can with keeping this group alive.
I am still interested in where NWOGEO goes. I see no reason the 21st wouldn't work for me. I don't know if Mr. BBD is interested.
I got a bit burnt out with my previous SC duties, I mostly helped execute the Spring and Holiday events, as well as providing the educational sessions to the local parks (GEO101s). I was unable to help with the Holiday event this year due to other commitments. For those that took that job over, they know that it's quite the undertaking.
I still enjoy providing the 101's (did 4-5 non-event sessions this year for elementary, and middle school aged children) and we host a small camping event ourselves.
I'm interested to see where this goes with more new folks.
id be happy to attend as long as the location is not up near Toleda or over west past Findlay or Tiffin. Anywhere within an hour of Van Wert and i can come.
Either date works for Bravo and I and we are both interested to be there. I think the library is a great idea and having it the week after the meet and eat gives us the opportunity to let folks know that it is happening....at least the ones that don't log on to here on a regular basis (being guilty of that myself lately). Thanks for stepping up to organizing it Jen and great input from everyone! Thanks for the history lesson Jason...I just passed a year of geocaching and like knowing how things got started.
