As of November 17, 2010 our forums use different software. Therefor the following instructions may need to be revised to reflect any differences.[hr]
Our NWOGEO site uses optional BBCode in the forums and other areas to enhance the display of your information. Geocaching.com also uses SOME BBCodes to enhance the text in their logs. See the link at the bottom for BBCodes that MAY work at geocaching.com.
When editing a NWOGEO post, the buttons above the text input area show MOST of the BBCodes that are allowed. Besides some missing BBCodes, the buttons also DO NOT show every possible usage of each code.
Here are a few tips to know when using BBCode.
1) Three ways to use the "URL" link tag. Each method always opens a new browser window, while keeping the current NWOGEO window open:
a) Simple "URL" tag":
Code: Select all
[url]http://www.NWOGEO.org[/url]
http://www.NWOGEO.org
NOTE that while longer URL's will link properly, they will not be displayed in entirety. To compensate for this, just use the next method and repeat the url in the text area, replacing where it says, "Click Here To Visit Our Site". ---------------------- b) "URL" tag with alternate text:
Code: Select all
[url=http://www.NWOGEO.org]Click Here To Visit Our Site[/url]
Click Here To Visit Our Site ---------------------- c) "URL" tag with alternate text in bold and underlined:
Code: Select all
[url=http://www.NWOGEO.org][b][u]Click Here To Visit Our Site[/u][/b][/url]
Click Here To Visit Our Site -------------------------------------------- 2) Two ways to use the "QUOTE" tag:
a) Simple blind "QUOTE" tag:
Code: Select all
[quote]She said what?[/quote]
---------------------- b) "QUOTE" tag with reference text:She said what?
Code: Select all
[quote="That last user"]She said what?[/quote]
----------------------That last user wrote:She said what?
For additional help be sure to check out the BBCode Guide which is also available by clicking on the blue word "BBCode" just to the bottom and left of your posting window under "Options".
